WTF Have I Been Eating

I didn't realize how much I had wandered off of my diet, until I started using my food log again.  I don't even know why I decided to start using it again but I'm glad I did.  I found that the amount of carbohydrates in my diet has crept up since the last time I used a log. Looking at everything I eat in a day also made me realize that I was no longer eating enough vegetables.  I thought that I had my routine down to the point that I didn't need to log anymore.  I guess I was wrong.

I think a food log is a useful tool when trying to eat a healthy diet.  An on-line log like the one I use makes it easy to calculate a daily total intake of fat, protein, carbohydrate, fiber, sugars and vitamins.  If you don't have easy access to a computer or smart phone during the day, keeping a paper log can be useful.  It's important to log food as you eat, it's too easy to forget about a snack or two when trying to log later in the day.  That last point is critical because entering everything you eat in a day can point out problems that you might otherwise overlook.

My normal process for keeping a log involves logging with my phone or computer right before I eat.  I tend to keep a log for a week straight and then not log for 2-3 weeks.  This last gap in logging was more like a couple of months.  In an attempt to keep myself on track, I have added a link to my food log from my blogs.  Feel free to have a look and send me an email if want to critique my diet.
